UN Security Council expresses outrage against car bomb attack in Mogadishu

UN Security Council on Saturday voiced its outrage against the car bomb attack on a hotel in the capital Mogadishu, Somalia, which left at least five people dead.

"The members of the Security Council are outraged by yesterday' s bomb attack in Mogadishu, for which Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility, and which has caused numerous deaths and injuries, " said a press statement issued here.

The members of the Security Council underline their strong support for the peace and reconciliation process in Somalia and reiterate their resolve to support international and Somali efforts to remove the threat posed by Al-Shabaab to Somalia and the region," said the statement.

The 15-nation council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are "criminal and unjustifiable regardless of their motivation, wherever and whenever and by whomsoever committed.
